Details

Our organization has been serving hundreds of youth and their families for almost a decade. We would like to update and revamp our existing brand to attract more customers.

We would like to work with students to develop a new logo that aligns with our company’s mission and story while providing an appealing design for users.

This will involve several different steps for the students, including:

  • Familiarizing themselves with our company’s story, mission and vision statements.
  • Analyze the current logo and discuss its symbolism and effectiveness.
  • Brainstorming logo ideas that suit our company and providing justification for each idea.
  • Sketch or digitally draft multiple logo concepts.
  • Designing and testing the best logos to garner input.
  • Participate in peer critiques and group feedback sessions.
  • Create multiple versions (color, black & white, icon-only, etc.).
  • Refining and improving logos based on feedback.

Bonus steps in the process would also include:

  • Developing a finalized logo for implementation.
Deliverables

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

  • Understanding of our company’s story and vision
  • Consideration for a variety of ideas and justification for their implementation
  • Color and monochrome versions, and usage examples.

Sankofa Foundation of Canada is a grassroots, community-rooted organization committed to the empowerment, healing, and advancement of Black and other marginalized youth. Inspired by the African proverb “Sankofa”—“It is not wrong to go back for that which you have forgotten”—we center cultural reclamation as a pathway to identity, resilience, and leadership.

Our work addresses the deep, often unspoken impacts of systemic barriers, racialized trauma, and cultural disconnection. Through year-long, holistic programming, we create safe and transformative spaces for youth to explore their history, build self-worth, and develop tangible life skills. From culturally-responsive mental health workshops, mentorship, and arts,, our youth are not just supported—they are seen, valued, and celebrated.

Sankofa Foundation of Canada stands at the intersection of healing and possibility. We are cultivating a generation that is not only aware of the legacies that shape them but also equipped to challenge injustice, lead with confidence, and reimagine the future on their own terms.
