Complete College America (CCA) is a bold national advocate for dramatically increasing college completion rates and closing institutional performance gaps by working with states, systems, institutions, and partners to scale highly effective structural reforms and promote policies that improve student success.
We believe higher education has a choice: to continue to reflect the racial, social, and economic injustice in society—or reimagine our systems to be engines of equity, prosperity, and hope. At CCA, we’re building a new system that restores the promise of higher education.
CCA and Riipen have joined forces in a multi-year initiative to integrate AI-focused work-based learning components into community college curricula, and create a national community of practice on equipping students with cutting-edge AI skills and real-world experience, preparing them for the rapidly evolving workforce of tomorrow.

Mechanical Design Capstone: Applied AI & Automation Projects
MET 2700
This capstone experience connects Cuyahoga Community College Mechanical Engineering Technology students with industry partners seeking fresh thinking and design solutions. Students in the Machine Design course are advanced Mechanical Engineering Technology majors skilled in CAD (Autodesk Inventor), mechanical systems design, and problem-solving. They can analyze stress, motion, and materials, and produce 3D models, technical drawings, and design documentation for industry projects. Over a 16-week term, students will collaborate on real-world mechanical design or automation challenges that integrate 3D modeling, motion systems, and design optimization. Partners will guide small student teams (2–5 members) through the engineering design process — from defining requirements and evaluating feasibility (using AI as a decision-support tool) to producing CAD models, simulations, and, where possible, physical prototypes. Students apply concepts from dynamics, materials, power transmission, and mechanical systems to create practical solutions that support innovation in manufacturing, product design, and engineering technology. This experience is a part of the CCA AI Readiness Consortium. Through employer-educator partnership this experience will bring AI competencies into curricula. Students will apply AI tools and skills to complete project deliverables and drive value for your organization.
Human Resource Management: Real-World HR Practice with AI Integration
BUS 271
Students in this Human Resource Management course have covered key HR functions including job design, recruitment, selection, training, performance management, and compensation. They are equipped to: Create detailed, legally sound job descriptions Design structured interview processes and scoring rubrics Evaluate resume screening tools, including emerging AI applications Draft performance management or employee development frameworks Align HR strategies with organizational goals and compliance requirements Communicate professionally and present practical HR recommendations Students will apply classroom learning in a real-world setting to support small or mid-sized organizations. This experience is a part of the CCA AI Readiness Consortium. Through employer-educator partnership this experience will bring AI competencies into curricula. Students will apply AI tools and skills to complete project deliverables and drive value for your organization.
Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Capstone
CNG 3036
Learners are upper-level students with prior internship experience and strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills. They can assess organizational risks, conduct impact analyses, and design actionable business continuity and disaster recovery strategies tailored to employer needs. This experience is a part of the CCA AI Readiness Consortium. Through employer-educator partnership this experience will bring AI competencies into curricula. Students will apply AI tools and skills to complete project deliverables and drive value for your organization.
Community Health Campaign Development
HSD 280
This experience is designed for students in the History and Principles of Public Health course at Borough of Manhattan Community College. The course examines the history of health and illness from a population perspective. Learners are equipped with the skills to apply public health strategies in diverse communities, focusing on community engagement and health communication. Partnering with non-profit organizations, students will develop a community education and awareness campaign to enhance referrals and increase housing census for public health programs. This project allows students to translate their understanding of historical and social determinants of health into practical solutions that meet organizational needs. This experience is a part of the CCA AI Readiness Consortium. Through employer-educator partnership this experience will bring AI competencies into curricula. Students will apply AI tools and skills to complete project deliverables and drive value for the partner organization.
