The primary goals are to:

1) Manage the DSA's social media pages - FB, IG, YT, X, LinkedIn - for a period of 3 - 6 months, maintaining consistency in existing branding and campaigns.

2) Increase followers and engagement on the following platforms especially:

  • YouTube
  • Google Reviews
  • X (formerly Twitter)
  • LinkedIn

This will strengthen the organization's online presence and community interaction. We already have a strong IG and FB presence, so we would like to maintain what we have on those platforms, but the other platforms need to grow. For example, our IG and FB have 13,000 followers, but out Youtube channel only has 1,400. We need to capture our existing followers on IG and FB and get them to follow us on other platforms.

3) Efficiently spend the remainder of a $50,000 digital marketing grant that the DSA received. We would like to use it to maximize the number of subscribers on the platforms which need an increase.

4) Work with the DSA to better align templates with DSA branding. Some of the templates are not branded very well, despite being in our colors.

5) Make Downtown's social media pages the most appealing they can be to visitors, residents, businesses, and property owners.

6) Develop IG icons that correspond to the things we do here.

This project provides an opportunity for learners to apply their knowledge of digital marketing strategies and social media management. The team will analyze current engagement metrics, identify target audiences, and develop tailored content strategies for each platform. By focusing on consistent and cohesive branding that aligns with the DSA's current branding kit, the project seeks to amplify the Alliance's visibility and influence in the digital space. The project will be completed by a team of marketing students, leveraging their skills in analytics, and strategic communication.

Deliverables

1) The project will result in a comprehensive digital marketing plan tailored to each platform, including content calendars and engagement strategies.

2) The project will result in the management of the DSA social media pages for a period of 3 - 6 months, with input and feedback from DSA staff.

3) The project will result in the efficient spending of the digital marketing grant, with metrics gathered on what the dollars spent translated to in terms of views/comments/interaction/followers, etc.

4) The project will result in increased subscribers on YT, X, and Linkedin, with more positive reviews added to Google.

5) A more streamlined/cohesive branding look for any templated posts.

6) IG icons that match our branding so that we can highlight/group our posts.

The Downtown Stockton Alliance (DSA) is a public/private partnership uniting almost 1,000 property owners and downtown businesses. The non-profit DSA was incorporated in 1996 as a 501(c)(6) corporation and officially began operations in 1998. Funded by a Property Based Improvement District (PBID) which allows property owners to self-assess on properties and a Business Improvement District (BID) allowing business owners to self-assess their businesses, the Downtown Stockton District was voted into creation in 1997, renewed for a second five-year period in 2002, next for a ten-year period in 2007, and most recently in 2017 for another ten-year period until 2027. Downtown Stockton Alliance (DSA) focuses in five critical areas as determined by the Downtown Management District Plan: Maintenance, Community Ambassadorship, Public Policies, Economic Development, and Marketing.
