Details

This project supports Hedge Structures in identifying potential funding sources to advance the development of their high energy-efficient, clean-tech greenhouse design, which is currently at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 4.

Students will conduct focused research on active government and private sector grants in Canada that support clean technology or sustainable agriculture. Optionally, students may include relevant international programs (e.g., from the U.S. or Europe) that could inform future strategic planning.

The primary objective is to build a detailed and organized database of funding opportunities, enabling the company to strategically plan future applications. This targeted project allows students to apply business and policy research skills in a real-world sustainability context.

Deliverables

Research 8–10 active grant programs, primarily in Canada, that align with clean-tech or sustainable agriculture

Optionally include U.S. or European grant programs that may be relevant for future phases

Analyze each program’s eligibility, funding amount, deadlines, and application requirements

Categorize grants by priority based on strategic fit for Hedge Structures and TRL 4 relevance

Create a funding tracker that includes:

  • Grant name and provider
  • Summary of the program
  • Application deadlines and cycles
  • Eligibility notes
  • Recommended next steps

Submit a final report that includes:

  • Completed funding tracker
  • Key findings
  • Top 3 grant recommendations with rationale
