Main Goal for This Project


This project will apply data analytics tools and methodologies, centered around PostHog, to build, assess, and optimize the Gluu Admin Dashboard. The objective is to deliver actionable insights based on user data, content metrics, and onboarding funnels to enhance administrative decision-making and improve overall platform performance.


Project Overview & Objective Statement


Gluu is shifting its focus to develop a robust Admin Dashboard, a critical internal tool for managing the platform and its users. The key objective is to create a centralized interface that provides deep insights into user activity and content engagement.


Objective:

Analyze user behaviour, content trends, and system-wide statistics to:

● Identify user engagement patterns and pain points within the platform.

● Quantify the effectiveness of the user onboarding process.

● Recommend data-backed improvements for user management and content strategy.

● Create dashboards for monitoring key platform metrics.

Deliverables

Gluu’s Admin Dashboard: Sections and Features


1. User Management

● Purpose: To manage and monitor all platform users.

● Features:

○ View all users, including their email, sign-up date, and current plan.

○ Manually upgrade or downgrade a user's plan.

○ Deactivate or delete user accounts.

○ Examine user statistics like total uploads, last activity date, and onboarding

completion status.


2. Upload Items Overview

● Purpose: To see all real-world assets uploaded by users to the platform.

● Features:


○ View a list of items with an image preview, product name, and the user who uploaded

it.

○ See the timestamp for each upload.

○ Option to delete items from the platform.


3. Onboarding Funnel Analytics

● Purpose: To track how effectively users are progressing through the initial onboarding steps.

PostHog is ideal for visualizing this user journey.

● Features:

○ A funnel view showing user progression and drop-off rates between steps.

○ Calculation of the average time spent on each onboarding step.

○ An activity timeline for both individual users and aggregate cohorts.


4. Testimonials Management

● Purpose: A full CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) interface for managing testimonials

displayed on the website.

● Features:

○ Add, edit, and delete testimonials (including text, name, user image, and role).

○ Toggle a "featured" status to highlight specific testimonials.


5. Billing & Plan Management

● Purpose: To monitor subscription health and the distribution of free versus paid users.

● Features:

○ View the subscription plan for each user (e.g., Free vs. Client Plus).

○ Check subscription start and end dates.

○ Identify users with failed payment statuses.

○ Manually sync data with billing services for the most current information.


6. Usage Statistics

● Purpose: To track system-wide engagement and platform health.

● Features:

○ Monitor the total number of uploads per day, week, or month.

○ Track new user sign-ups over time.

○ Calculate the average number of items uploaded per user.

○ Identify users who have reached their item upload quota.


7. Alerts & Moderation

● Purpose: To implement basic flagging and clean-up tools for content moderation.

● Features:

○ A system for flagging potentially inappropriate uploads.

○ Alerts for items with missing product information.

○ An audit log to track significant changes, showing who changed what and when.


Data Summary & Preprocessing

● Data Description:

○ User and content data, including user profiles, uploaded items, testimonials, and

activity logs.

○ Behavioral data, including user events, session recordings, and funnel progression.

○ Billing information linked to user data.

● Cleaning & Preparation:

○ Standardize data formats across different sources, particularly for timestamps and

user identifiers.

○ Anonymize and filter any sensitive user information.

○ Merge event data with user profiles to create a comprehensive user view.

● Preprocessing Notes:

○ Emphasis will be on creating unified user profiles that combine behavioral events

with database records.

○ Calculated fields will be developed for metrics like user activity scores, onboarding

success rates, and content submission frequency.


Analytics & Visual Tools

○ Descriptive & Diagnostic Analytics: Identify patterns in user behavior, feature

adoption, and content submission trends.

○ Funnel Analysis: Deeply analyze the onboarding funnel to pinpoint drop-off points

and areas for improvement.

○ User Segmentation: Group users into cohorts based on their plan, activity level, or

onboarding status to tailor analysis.


● Visual Tools:

○ Dashboards: Create dashboards using tools like PostHog, Power BI, or Tableau to

visualize key metrics. These may include:


■ User growth and plan distribution charts.

■ An interactive onboarding funnel visualization.

■ Trends in content uploads over time.

■ Subscription health metrics, such as active subscriptions and failed

payments.


Insights Report & Stakeholder Presentation

A clear, business-focused 20-minute presentation will:

● Walk through current user engagement and onboarding challenges using data-driven

insights.

● Showcase the key features of the admin dashboard with visual analytics support.

● Offer concrete suggestions tied to improving user experience, increasing onboarding

completion rates, and optimizing content strategy.
