CuraJOY is a grassroots tech nonprofit that improves family interactions and reduces challenging behaviors by combining clinician-supervised AI/machine learning with proven science. Our programs fit into existing healthcare and education workflows and allow critical behavioral health support to be delivered equitably in multiple languages even to places without the required infrastructure or manpower. curaJOY brings clinicians, educators, parents and kids to create our solutions because we believe that, together, we have a better chance of ending generational trauma, stopping hate and building firm foundations of social-emotional skills in ourselves and in each other.

MyCuraJOY Educator Onboarding Curriculum Development
The project aims to develop a comprehensive training and onboarding curriculum for K-12 educators to effectively utilize MyCuraJOY, a tool designed to tailor instruction for students with FBA (Functional Behavioral Assessments) and BIP (Behavior Intervention Plans) for special education students and those without formal diagnoses. The curriculum will empower educators to seamlessly integrate MyCuraJOY into their teaching practices, ensuring compliance with Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements. By providing clear guidance and practical strategies, the project seeks to enhance educators' ability to personalize learning experiences, thereby improving educational outcomes for all students. HIPAA Compliance Audit Simulation
The HIPAA Compliance Audit Simulation Project is designed to help curaJOY proactively assess its adherence to HIPAA regulations. By simulating an official audit, the project aims to identify compliance gaps across administrative, physical, and technical safeguards. This simulation will test the organization's readiness for an actual OCR (Office for Civil Rights) audit, ensuring that the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Protected Health Information (PHI) are maintained. Additionally, the project seeks to promote a culture of compliance among staff through practical audit engagement. The ultimate goal is to provide actionable insights and a clear remediation roadmap to achieve full HIPAA compliance, thereby safeguarding sensitive health information and enhancing organizational trust.
Cloud Security & Configuration Best Practices for Scalable Healthcare Applications
Scope of Work: Students will: Research best practices for secure cloud configurations in AWS and Azure. Identify common pitfalls affecting nonprofits and healthcare tech. Review infrastructure and provide secure configuration recommendations. Document a cloud deployment checklist that aligns with HIPAA and CIS benchmarks.
