FMB was founded in the early days of the COVID Pandemic and currently works with various community organizations, retirement homes and long term care facilities across the GTA with the objective of aiding in the delivery of important brain, body and educational programs to our GTA communities. Our typical fitness programs incorporate five components of brain training (computation, critical thinking, language, memory, and visual/spatial orientation) in addressing wellness needs of our seniors, those with disabilities and our kids/youths. This cognitive component is typically intertwined into our physical activities. At FMB, we compliment our physical and brain activities with health education modules for the senior population. By bringing awareness and mitigating factors to illnesses such as dementia, heart health, gut health, arthritis and many more, we aim to put them in a better position to guard against them. Aside from running our own dedicated FMB programs, most of our time is dedicated to our Partner Programs which are done in conjunction with community and private organizations. In these joint programs, FMB is contracted to deliver customized brain and body fitness programs for fixed durations at our partner's location. Our services are conducted by one of our two mobile training teams. Class sizes are typically 15-20 individuals and FMB provides all equipment required for our programs. Both the physical and cognitive components of our programs are modular and scalable. This allows us to be malleable in our approach to any age group and ability level. Our program is not meant as a replacement for existing programs but is aimed to compliment existing infrastructure and resources. We have always had a focus within the autism community and currently work with focused partners in this area.

Strategic Grant Research & Partnership Mapping for Community Wellness Initiatives
Functional Mind and Body (FMB) is at a pivotal stage of growth, expanding from a family-run initiative into a structured organization with part-time staff and growing partnerships. To fuel this evolution, FMB seeks support in identifying relevant public and private grant opportunities that align with our focus areas: senior wellness, disability support, cognitive fitness, and community education. This project will help us gain strategic insight into the funding ecosystem available in Ontario and Canada, including a list of past awardees and potential collaborators. Our aim is to not only increase access to funding, but also build long-term relationships with like-minded organizations that have a history of receiving such grants.
Website & Branding Revamp Strategy for a Growing Health and Wellness Business
As Functional Mind and Body (FMB) transitions from a grassroots, family-led initiative into a larger community wellness organization, it is essential that our digital presence reflects our professionalism, mission, and scalability. We’re looking for students to assess our current website and branding, compare it with sector standards, and help us reimagine how we communicate with potential partners, funders, and community organizations. This project will ensure our external presentation matches the quality and breadth of our programs—enhancing credibility and engagement as we grow.
Grant Research for Community Support Initiatives
Functional Mind and Body INC. is seeking a comprehensive research paper that identifies and details private and government grants available for supporting seniors and individuals with disabilities within the community. The goal of this project is to provide a clear understanding of the financial resources available to enhance the quality of life and support services for these groups. The research should focus on grants that are specifically tailored to the needs of seniors and those living with disabilities, highlighting eligibility criteria, application processes, and potential funding amounts. This project will enable Functional Mind and Body INC. to strategically plan and apply for grants that align with their mission to support these communities effectively. The research should be thorough, well-organized, and presented in a manner that is easily understandable for stakeholders.
Website Evaluation
FMB is seeking to obtain a thorough evaluation of our existing website to identify areas of possible improvement. As an organization, we would be looking to transition from a small family-operated organization to a wider ranging wellness organization operating on a larger scale with more staff and more significant partnerships. We would be looking for a report identifying strengths and weaknesses of our existing site with a minimum of 5 suggestions on how it could be improved. The recommendations should be made in alignment with what the evaluators believe the importance or impact could be of their recommendation.
