Objective:

The primary objective of this project is to design and implement a secure network topology tailored for a small business environment. This involves ensuring data integrity, confidentiality, and availability while facilitating efficient network operations.

Key Components:

  1. Wi-Fi Configuration:
  • Design and deploy a secure Wi-Fi network that covers the entire business premises efficiently.
  • Implement robust security protocols such as WPA3 to safeguard against unauthorized access.
  • Setup of a guest Wi-Fi network that allows visitors to connect without accessing the main network.
  1. VLANs (Virtual Local Area Networks):
  • Create separate VLANs to isolate different types of network traffic, thereby enhancing security and performance.
  • Example VLAN configurations might include separating administrative, sales, and guest traffic.
  • Configure inter-VLAN routing to allow necessary communication between segregated networks.
  1. Firewall Configuration:
  • Implement a robust firewall strategy to protect the network from unauthorized access and cyber threats.
  • Define and set up rules for incoming and outgoing traffic to ensure only legitimate users and data can pass through.
  • Utilize features such as intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDPS) for real-time threat monitoring.
  1. Basic Monitoring:
  • Develop a network monitoring plan to continuously assess the health and performance of the network.
  • Employ tools and software to keep track of network activity, detect anomalies, and perform regular audits.
  • Establish alerts and reporting mechanisms for rapid response to potential security incidents.

Outcome:

The successful completion of this project will result in a secure, efficient, and robust network infrastructure tailored to meet the needs of the small business. This will ensure the safe handling of data and seamless connectivity across the organization, while also providing the flexibility to scale as the business grows.

Scope & Limitations:

  • The project will focus on a small business assumed to have fewer than 100 employees.
  • Budgetary constraints will be considered to provide cost-effective solutions without compromising on security or performance.
  • Regular updates and maintenance plans will be established for sustained security and efficiency.

By focusing on these key areas, the project aims to establish a secure yet flexible network that supports the current and future needs of the business
