The main objective of this project is to improve the website of ComfortlyTravel and its backend functionality. ComfortlyTravel is a website where travelers search and find local resources and amenities they need. It goes beyond flights and hotels and provides functional resources such as visa assistance, travel insurance, coworking spaces, local apps for food and transportation, and more. Our mission is to help new and old travelers feel confident exploring new places. We aim to help them travel with everything they need to personalize their trip, travel like a local, and have the knowledge and resources to do so.

Learners will dive into what the company offers its users, research the best development improvements, execute/develop them, and assess if they are successful/edit them for improvement if necessary.

Development Improvements Include (but are not limited to):

-UX design implementation

-Chatbots Integration

-Data Analysis and Sourcing of Vendors

-Personalized Vendor Recommendation Engine

-Geo-Location Vendor Recommendations

Learners will have access to company internal information, current website backend and code, and 2-3 company employees to reach out to for guidance. Learners will be expected to attend virtual check-in meetings to update on their progress.

Benefits

Learners will gain experience working in a traveltech company, improving website functionality, and developing data science pipelines. Learners will receive a signed letter of recommendation upon completion of the program.

At the end of the project, learners are expected to submit the following:

1. The website developments and code pipelines they created

Skills Required: Html5 for web development, Python for vendor sourcing and management, API implementation for vendor sourcing and AI models, SQL database design and management

Project Details & Milestones: 

Week 1: Project Kick-off and Onboarding: 

• Learn about ComfortlyTravel, how the company works, and our target demographic
• Discuss where the company currently is and what goals are to be met by the end of the 6 weeks
• Present your intended website improvement
• Begin developing your website improvement

Week 2: Continued Onboarding, Demonstrated Competencies, & Initial Tasks 

• Work on website improvement with check-ins

Week 3: Early Project Work & Initial Milestones 

• Work on website improvement with check-ins

Week 4: Mid-Project Progress & Review  

• Improve upon or pivot from development strategy based on current outcomes

Week 5: Final Project Work & Pre-Submission 

• Continue to work on website improvements

Week 6: Final Project Submission & Wrap Up

• Calculate and present the website improvements and how successful your strategy was
• Create a document on what next steps will be based on your development's outcome
