Details

The project aims to conduct a comprehensive review and analysis of smart building and energy management products. The primary goal is to evaluate key technologies and compare product features to determine their effectiveness in intelligent automation and energy efficiency. The project will involve analyzing various hardware and software solutions to understand how they can be seamlessly integrated for optimal performance. Students will apply their classroom knowledge of energy systems, automation, and technology integration to assess the compatibility and potential benefits of different products. The project will also explore the latest trends in smart building technologies and their impact on energy management. By the end of the project, students will have a clear understanding of the current landscape of smart building solutions and their potential for future development.

Deliverables

Each student (or team member) will be assigned one of the following categories:

  1. Smart Electrical Panels & Load Management – Review modern load management, automation, remote monitoring, and integration with home and commercial energy systems.
  2. Electric Vehicle (EV) Chargers – Assess charging speeds, connectivity (Wi-Fi/Bluetooth), energy optimization features, and integration with renewable energy systems.
  3. Solar Energy Systems & Storage – Evaluate solar panels, inverters, battery storage, and their ability to integrate with smart panels, EV chargers, and grid energy optimization tools.
  4. Energy Management & Building Automation – Analyze real-time monitoring solutions, demand response systems, AI-based optimizations, and smart grid interaction.
  5. Building Automation & Hardware Integration – Explore how smart panels, lighting systems, IoT devices, and automation controllers can be interconnected for seamless operation.
  6. Software & Networking for Smart Infrastructure – Review building automation software, networking protocols, smart assistants and cybersecurity considerations for automation.

The goal of this project is to provide a detailed comparative study, identify key industry trends, and assess how these products and systems can be integrated into cohesive, intelligent building automation solutions.
